Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Hyderabad
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is one of the most revered pilgrimages in the world, drawing millions of devotees each year to the sacred heights of Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in Tibet. For those traveling from Hyderabad, this spiritual journey provides an opportunity to experience divine blessings and profound peace, while undertaking a physically challenging adventure. Mount Kailash is considered the abode of Lord Shiva, and Lake Mansarovar is believed to purify the soul. Together, they form a spiritual epicenter for followers of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and the Bon faiths.
Spiritual Significance
Mount Kailash is considered the holiest peak in the world. According to Hindu mythology, it is the divine abode of Lord Shiva, where he meditates in eternal peace. For pilgrims, trekking around the base of Mount Kailash, known as the Kailash Parikrama, is a deeply spiritual experience believed to bring liberation (Moksha) and remove the burden of past sins. Lake Mansarovar, with its pristine, sacred waters, is equally revered. Pilgrims believe that taking a dip in the lake cleanses them of all their sins and provides spiritual renewal.
Routes for Pilgrims from Hyderabad
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra can be accessed through various routes, and pilgrims from Hyderabad typically join organized tours managed by the Indian Government’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) or authorized travel operators. There are two main routes for the Yatra:
Via Nepal (Lhasa Route): This is the most popular and commonly chosen route. Pilgrims from Hyderabad usually fly to Kathmandu, Nepal. From there, the journey continues by road, crossing the Nepal-China border into Tibet. The route includes a stop in Lhasa, the spiritual capital of Tibet, before heading to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. The total duration of the Yatra is around 24-30 days, including acclimatization time and the trek around Mount Kailash.
Via Sikkim (Nathu La Pass Route): An alternative route for some pilgrims is through Sikkim, from where they cross the Nathu La Pass into Tibet. This route involves traveling to Gangtok, Sikkim, before proceeding to Tibet. This is less commonly used compared to the Nepal route but still offers a unique experience.
