Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Jammu

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is one of the holiest and most sought-after pilgrimages in the world. For devotees from Jammu, this sacred journey to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar offers a unique opportunity to seek divine blessings and spiritual liberation. Revered across Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and the Bon faith, Kailash and Mansarovar represent the ultimate destinations for seekers of spiritual fulfillment and inner peace.

Spiritual Significance
Mount Kailash is considered the sacred abode of Lord Shiva, the supreme deity in Hinduism. The mountain, towering at 22,028 feet, is believed to be the center of the universe and the cosmic axis, where Lord Shiva resides in deep meditation. The Kailash Parikrama, a 52-kilometer trek around the base of the mountain, is considered to offer spiritual liberation (Moksha) to devotees who complete the journey.

Routes for Pilgrims from Jammu
Pilgrims from Jammu typically join the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through organized groups managed by the Indian Government’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) or recognized private tour operators. There are two primary routes to reach Kailash Mansarovar:

Via Nepal (Lhasa Route): The most commonly used route, pilgrims from Jammu travel by air to Kathmandu in Nepal. From Kathmandu, the journey continues by road, crossing the Nepal-China border into Tibet. The route includes a visit to Lhasa, the spiritual capital of Tibet, before heading towards Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. The entire Yatra takes approximately 24-30 days, including acclimatization time at various stops.

Via Sikkim (Nathu La Pass Route): A less common alternative, this route begins from Gangtok in Sikkim, where pilgrims cross the Nathu La Pass into Tibet. This route is typically chosen by those seeking a different experience than the Nepal route but requires special permissions and travel arrangements.
